Coping with Covid-19

While we are all dealing with an enormous amount of uncertainty amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, caring for our mental health can be more important now than ever. With so much currently out of our control, many of us may be grasping for ways to find control in our daily lives and where we put that energy is key. When we focus on things we can't control, such as other people's actions, or when life will go back to "normal", we may end up feeling frustrated, angry, fearful, or hopeless. Focusing on things in our life that we can control can help bring us a sense of peace and a sense of purpose.

Examples of this might be:

  • Our mindset- cultivating positive thoughts, recognizing this time is finite and won’t last forever, connecting to gratitude

  • Exposure to news and social media- limiting how much news we consume, editing the accounts we follow

  • How we chose to spend our time- balancing work & family, staying connected to important relationships via technology

  • Taking care of our own health- hand hygiene, social distancing, getting outdoors on a daily basis, meditation practices, proper nutrition, journaling

None of us have experienced anything like this in our lifetime. During this uncertain time, it may also be helpful to remember that people globally are having this shared experience. We are all in this together.
